Our Priorities

Prioritize frontline communities’
needs in ending plastics pollution

Our communities live and work at the frontlines of plastics pollution, and experience the highest levels of exposures to toxins that impact our health. We must prioritize the self-determination of those most impacted in the plan to end plastic pollution.

This is Abuela Torres

She is a long time resident of the neighborhood and her family has lived in the same home for generations.

A plastics and waste incinerator has been relocated across the street from her home & Abuela Torres has fallen ill.

She reads in the paper about a “clean air act” but sees no changes in their neighborhood.

She demands local government to remove the plastic refineries, fine the industries and listen to community members.

Willow & Sage protest the incinerator and others from the neighborhood join the fight.

Members of EJCAP help the community call their local representatives to remove the incinerator from the neighborhood.

Community members can take steps with EJCAP to acquire legal support, or other actionable steps like meeting with local and state decision makers, attending local government meetings, performing community science air monitoring, etc.
